Connie Mack Tourney Comes to Town

will be the site of the largest District Connie Mack Baseball Tourney in the country. Forty teams are expected to participate in the tournament.
For the 10th year,

in Struthers will be the scene of continuous youth baseball action to determine which teams will go to the regional Connie Mack Baseball Tourney.
“
Cene
Park
is a fantastic baseball complex and a great attraction in the community,” according to Struthers Mayor Dan Mamula. “We’re very proud of it and the many baseball events that take place there. It’s probably the finest youth baseball complex in the state,” Mamula added. The baseball complex is home for Class B baseball and is, also, used by various high school teams, including the Struthers Wildcats and YSU.
In addition to baseball, the community and visitors will be treated to a gala fireworks display on Saturday, July 16th after the 7:00 p.m. tournament game to celebrate the opening night of the Connie Mack Tournament and 10th anniversary of

occupies a site that was once part of the former Struthers Coke Works. Through the efforts of the late Bob Cene, Sr., his sons Bob, Jr., Paul and Jim DiBacco the site has been transformed into a first class recreational facility. The complex consists of three major league proportion, lighted baseball diamonds complete with concessions, press box and bleacher seating. The construction of the SR616 Bridge over the

. “The construction of both facilities greatly changed the view of the downtown area, especially as you enter the downtown from the north,” stated Mayor Mamula. “It is especially impressive when the baseball complex is lighted,” he added.
Other recreational and sports venues available nearby include; Yellow Creek Park, Valley Sports, a indoor/outdoor soccer complex, South Bridge Billiards, the Bowladrome, and The Cellar, a nightclub. In addition, a number of fine dining facilities are in the immediate vicinity for visitors to enjoy.
